There’s water damage, and then there’s flood water damage — an evil brew of bacteria, pollutants, and muck.

The Heritage Emergency Task Force has posted advice and resource information for salvaging objects damaged by flood water.

Of special note for textiles: you can wrap sodden textiles in plastic and then place them in a freezer in order to prevent further damage until you have time and/or resources to clean them.
